“Psychology professor Ira Hyman employed a clown riding on a unicycle to prove his point. As the clown rode through campus, just 25 percent of the people talking on cell phones saw him. More than half the people walking alone, or listening to portable music devices or walking with another person noticed the clown.”

Officers suspect a prank, considering the season, but say it’s not funny, safe, or acceptable. “Don’t do it. It’s immature, it’s illegal. It’s a dead animal it doesn’t need to be sitting on someone’s porch. It needs to be disposed of by the right people,” explained Animal Control Officer Jake Appel.

I’m not sure what to say about the dead clown deer.  I queried @autopsytheclown on Twitter, but he professed to have no knowledge of the incident.  I guess those crazy Iowans are just having a little fun before winter hits.  Either way, I was hoping to see this story get more coverage because a dead clown deer would be a pretty good Halloween costume.  I guess I’ll just go as a clown getting blown up by a water cannon.  Again.

I came across an article on eHow that gave some tips for beating carnival games.  The list is by no means comprehensive, but it’s interesting to see how the few that are listed can be beaten.  Or at least how to increase the odds that you’ll be successful in walking away with a prize.  We all pretty much expect that when we play carnival games that there is some gimmick, but we are all too willing to pony up the few dollars that it takes to give it a try.  They all seem so easy!
